Imagine working for an employer who listens to its employees as intently as it listens to customers! That's a different kind of employer.
Twice a year, our senior management team sponsors a 150 question survey through a third party company specializing in employee workplace best practices. It is used to assess how well we are doing in keeping promises to employees. Asking a range of questions from how people are being managed and developed, to how well the leadership team is communicating about the company's progress in meeting goals, the survey is an integral part of our leadership team's own accountability measures, as well as a roadmap for where and how it can improve performance.
The survey results are also used to compare our performance against other 'great' places to work locally and nationally. Additionally, we use it to learn how 'best' companies are innovating in this area so we can learn from them and bring new value to our people and workplace.
We are currently at work in creating an innovative way to measure this effectively more frequently to allow the company to quickly respond to needs without diminishing the effect of the twice annual survey.
